Welcome back PD, nice to have another noob return. I am just clearing out some screenshots from my folder so this post will be short and simple.

I have not had any feedbacks on the guides that I wrote so I do not know if anyone finds them useful. I will consider writing some other guides with the little knowledge that I have in order to help those who want to learn about certain aspects of the game. Until then, have fun and good drops!

Back to Lineage.

Hey all. PD here. This is my first time blogging. Hopefully we can bring you guys/gals some interesting and helpful information about Lineage.

I recently took about a 2 month break from Lineage to go on a tour to Europe and the UK with my girlfriend. She had lots of fun but I didn't. HAHA. Just kidding. We both had a lot of fun. It's great to finally be back.

Not too much to say at the moment except that Net, Samoa and Omen play way too much. Guys, slow down the leveling and let me catch up! :P

Karma Introduction - Levels and Rewards

I mentioned last time that I was going to write a guide regarding both sides of karma. I decided to split the guide into separate posts about karma levels and rewards, Temple of Shadows/Desire Cavern/Sanctuary of Evil (aka. SOE/Sorcerer's Temple) karma per monster, and how to make keys for each side as well as reversing karma.

Karma Introduction
Karma has two sides; undead and demon (ie. if you kill undead, then you are on the demon side and vice versa). From now on I will refer to them as Varlok karma (killing undeads) and Yahee karma (killing demons). Do not mistake that all undead and demon monsters in the game give karma. Only monsters from three places give karma - Temple of Shadows, Desire Cavern, and Sanctuary of Evil (aka. Sorcerer's Temple). Once you have obtained level 1 karma of either side, the other faction will not attack you (ie. if you have level 1 or higher Varlok karma, then the demons in Desire Cavern and SOE will not attack you). You can only have karma from one side, meaning you cannot befriend both sides at the same time. Additionally, if you kill monsters from your faction (ie. killing demons when you have Varlok karma), then you will lose some of your karma.

- Temple of Shadows (located in Oren)

Temple of Shadows consists of the Outer Area (including bugged area), 1f, 2f, 3f, and Land of the Abandoned (for levels 45 to 51). Killing the undead monsters inside will give you karma toward the Varlok side (befriending demons). I have included a link on the side for the Land of the Abandoned Spy quest which can be done every 24 hours for 100 karma, up to level 1 karma. That quest guide was not written by me and I do not take any credit for it. Also, the same guide can also be used as a reference for the Spy quest of the opposite karma. Just to be clear, when you are killing undead in the Temple of Shadows Land of the Abandoned, you want to speak with the Spy inside Desire Cavern Land of the Abandoned to start the quest.

-Desire Cavern (located in Desert next to Windawood Castle)
Desire Cavern consists of the Outer Area, Lobby, Air Room, Fire Room, Water Room, Earth Room, Varlok's Room, and Land of the Abandoned (for levels 45 to 51). Killing the demon monsters inside will give you karma toward the Yahee side (befriending undeads). The Spy quest for the Desire Cavern Land of the Abandoned starts with speaking with the Spy in the Temple of Shadows Land of the Abandoned.

- Sanctuary of Evil (located between Resistance and Lastavard)
Sanctuary of Evil consists of the Beginning Area, Jail, Demon Faction, Undead Faction, and Tarak's Temple. Not all monsters in SOE give karma, only monsters in either Demon or Undead Factions. Getting to SOE can be accomplished in one of three ways - running through Resistance Village, teleporting from Temple of Shadows (requires level 3 or higher Yahee karma), or teleporting from Desire Cavern (requires level 3 or higher Varlok karma).

Karma Levels
These are the total karma values needed to obtain their respective karma levels (applicable to either karma).
Level 1 karma: 10,000
Level 2 karma: 20,000
Level 3 karma: 100,000
Level 4 karma: 500,000
Level 5 karma: 1,500,000
Level 6 karma: 3,000,000
Level 7 karma: 5,000,000
Level 8 karma: 10,000,000

Karma Rewards

- Karma Earrings are rewarded to you once you have achieved a certain level of karma from hunting undead monsters (monsters in Temple of Shadows and SOE only). For example, once you have 10k karma from hunting undead, you are eligible for level 1 earrings. Then you will need another 10k karma, for a total of 20k karma, for level 2 earrings.

- Karma Amulet is rewarded the same way, except you have to achieve a certain level of karma from hunting demon monsters (monsters in Desire Cavern and SOE only).

Karma Earrings
Dancing Earrings: -1 ac, requires level 45, untradeable.
Twin Earrings: -2 ac, requires level 46, untradeable.
Festival Earrings: -3 ac, requires level 47, untradeable.
Zenith Earrings: -3 ac, +25 hp, +10 mp, requires level 48, untradeable.
Reckless Earrings: -3 ac, +50 hp, +20 mp, requires level 49, untradeable.
Fantasy Horse Earrings: -3 ac, +50 hp, +20 mp, 2% weight reduction, requires level 50, untradeable.
Clan Earrings: -3 ac, +50 hp, +20 mp, 5% weight reduction, requires level 51, untradeable.
Slave Earrings: -3 ac, +50 hp, +20 mp, 10% weight reduction, requires level 52, untradeable.

Once you know you have achieved a certain level of karma for a new pair of earrings, speak with the NPC "Consul" in the Lobby of Desire Cavern:

Request to speak with Varlok in his room and speak with his Assistant:

He will tell you your reward is an "necklace," however, it is actually your new pair of earrings!

Karma Amulet
Amulet of Kahel 1: +25 mp, untradeable.
Amulet of Kahel 2: +25 hp, +25 mp, untradeable.
Amulet of Kahel 3: +25 hp, +50 mp, untradeable.
Amulet of Kahel 4: +50 hp, +50 mp, untradeable.
Amulet of Kahel 5: +60 hp, +50 mp, +1 hp regen, untradeable.
Amulet of Kahel 6: +70 hp, +50 mp, +2 hp regen, +1 mp regen, untradeable.
Amulet of Kahel 7: +80 hp, +50 mp, +3 hp regen, +2 mp regen, untradeable.
Amulet of Kahel 8: +100 hp, +50mp, +4 hp regen, +3 mp regen, +20 petrify resist, untradeable.

Once you have achieved a certain level of karma for a new amulet, speak with the NPC "Consul" on the 1st floor of Temple of Shadows:

Request to speak with Yahee in his room and speak with his Assistant:

He will reward you with your amulet!

Please note that you cannot receive Karma Earrings if you have the Desire Cavern Key in your inventory (same goes for Karma Amulet and Temple of Shadows Keys).

Trading in Fragments for Karma
Trading in Fragments for karma will net you 100 karma of one side. Fragment of Soul Stone will give you 100 karma toward Varlok karma, and Fragment of Blood Stone will give you 100 karma toward Yahee karma. Speak with the NPC, Consul, to trade in Fragments of Soul/Blood Stones on the 1st floor of Desire Cavern and Temple of Shadows, respectively.

Checking Karma
In order to check your karma level and percent, speak with Alfons in Giran to find out.

You must have level 1 or higher karma of either side in order for Alfons to speak with you.

Karma Per Monster

Before deciding which side of karma you want to be on, you may want to know the karma value per monster in each area. Here I will list the monsters in each area with their respective karma values.

Temple of Shadows - Undead Monsters (all give Varlok karma)


-Outer Area
Priest of Chaos (Spearman) - 2 karma
Follower of Chaos (Spearman) - 2 karma


-1st floor
Priest of Chaos (Spearman/Winged/Rider) - 2 karma
Chaos - 100 karma


-2nd floor
Priest of Chaos (Spearman) - 2 karma
Priest of Death (Lesser Demon/Demon/Succubus/Baphomet/Beleth) - 10 karma
Death - 100 karma

Guardsman of Yahee (Lesser Demon) - 10 karma

Temple of Shadows and Desire Cavern Keys

Keys to either Temple of Shadows or Desire Cavern are needed in order to have access to higher level floors, most importantly to bosses otherwise inaccessible without the keys. In order to make the keys of either Temple of Shadows or Desire Cavern, you must have at least level 1 karma of the corresponding key you are trying to make. For example, you need to have level 1 or higher Varlok karma (killing undeads) in order to make Temple of Shadows Keys. Also, you cannot make one of the keys if you already have a key of the opposite side (ie. You cannot make the Desire Cavern Key if you already have a Temple of Shadows Key). Therefore, if you made a key for one side and decide you want to make a key for the other side, you must delete the key that you already have in your inventory in order to do so.

Temple of Shadows Keys
Once you have level 1 Varlok karma, Keys to 2nd and 3rd floor of Temple of Shadows are relatively easier to make than the Desire Cavern Key.
-In order to make the Key to 2nd Floor of Temple of Shadows, you need:

-Key to 3rd Floor of Temple of Shadows is made the same way, you need:
1,000 Fragments of Soul Stone +
Head of Death (only need one, choose your preferred color) =
Key to 3rd Floor of Temple of Shadows

Fragments of Soul Stone can be obtained by killing undead monsters in Temple of Shadows or SOE. The Heads of Chaos/Death can be obtained by killing the respective bosses for them. Once you have the required materials, head to Varlok's Laboratory in Desire Cavern and speak with the NPC "Incarnation of Varlok" to make the key.


Desire Cavern Key
Once you have level 1 Yahee karma, you can start on collecting the seals needed for the key. In order to make the key you need to collect a total of 810 seals from the rooms (Air/Fire/Water/Earth Rooms) within Desire Cavern. Collecting the seals require a certain order and cannot be all from one room. The order to collect the seals is:
10 seals from one room,
100 seals from the next room,
200 seals from another room, and
500 seals from the last room.
You can choose which room to collect in first so you can leave the easiest room last.
-The suggested route for melee/ranged characters is to go for 10 Air Seals, then 100 Fire Seals, then 200 Water Seals, and finally 500 Earth Seals. The reason for this order is because Air Room monsters hit the hardest while Earth room is the easiest.
-The suggested route for mage is to go for 10 Water Seals, then 100 Air Seals, then 200 Fire Seals, and finally 500 Earth Seals. The reason for this order is because mages cannot summon in the Water Room, therefore, making it the hardest room for them.

When you go to the first room and touch the Dimension Door, it will tell you something is protruding through the door. If you are sure that you want to hunt that room for seals first, then go ahead and remove the protruding part:

You will receive the Pass of Air/Fire/Water/Earth.

Once you take the Pass, you cannot enter the other rooms in Desire Cavern without giving up any seals that you may have. Take the Pass and collect 10 seals from the first room.

Once you have 10 seals from the first room, return to the Dimension Door and touch it again. You will then receive Air/Fire/Water/Earth Commander.

Once you have obtained the Commander, you may now move on to the next room of your choice. Repeat the process of taking the Pass, collecting the seals (100/200/500), and receiving the Commander in the next three rooms.

After you have obtained all four Commanders, go to Temple of Shadows 1f and go to Yahee's Laboratory. Find him walking around and speak with him. He will give you an option to make Ruler of the Elements, which is the Desire Cavern Key.

Click on that and receive the Elemental Commander:


Reversing/Erasing Karma
An important fact in hunting for karma is that if you kill a monster from your own faction (ie. you have Varlok karma and kill demons), you will lose more than the original karma value of the monster. Killing a monster from your own faction will reduce your karma by the monster's karma value multiplied by four. Therefore, if you have Varlok karma and kill a Shiboin of Air/Fire/Water/Earth, then you will lose 6 x 4 = 24 karma. This knowledge is useful if you decide to switch sides one day and hunt for the opposite karma. Therefore, if you have level 2 Varlok karma and decided to make a Desire Cavern Key, the process to reverse/erase your karma is much less tedious.

Trading in Fragments for Karma
Reversing/erasing karma by trading in fragments will still net you 100 karma, not 100 x 4 karma. Speak with the NPC, Consul, to trade in Fragments of Soul/Blood Stones on the 1st floor of Desire Cavern and Temple of Shadows, respectively.
